Veterans
I am proud to have served in our country’s
military. I served with the 82nd Airborne Division and with the
9th and 10th Special Forces. I also served with the Central Intelligence
Agency (CIA) as a paramilitary case officer in command of four
battalions in combat in Laos. For my efforts with the CIA, I received
the Intelligence Star for Valor.
I’m always receiving letters and telephone
calls from my fellow veterans. They want to know the truth
about their benefits, the truth about a new cemetery;
the truth about health care; the truth
about budget cuts. Representative Heather Wilson continues
to vote against our veterans and appears to be having a problem
communicating the truth as well.
It is time to overhaul the Veterans Administration
(VA) and its health care system. We will meet our responsibility
to our Veterans:
Stop gutting Veterans Benefits
Mandatory funding for healthcare
Care for our homeless Veterans
Timely treatment
Eliminate the “Disabled Veterans Tax”
New Mexico needs an additional Veterans Cemetery
Educational assistance to Disabled Veterans family members
Congress needs to enact legislation to restore the
rights and dignity to those who served our country. We need competent,
timely and safe medical care along with compensation for injuries
received while defending our country in peace and in combat.
I will never forget our Veterans or our GI's.
Paid for by the Committee to Elect
Eli Chavez, Nancy A. Lesicka, Treasurer.
