Homeland Security and Foreign Policy
I will introduce legislation to help fund cash-strapped
cities, towns and villages to hire, pay, retain, train and equip
police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians
in New Mexico. I will also encourage every citizen in New Mexico
to assist our first responders by volunteering their service and
supporting neighborhood watch programs. Citizen involvement will
enable our first responders to better address homeland security
concerns. Our first responders must have current tactical intelligence
available to conduct operations against any terrorist threat to
New Mexicans.
- Our first responders must know the current terrorist situation.
- Our first responders must know their mission.
- Our first responders must have the latest equipment.
- Administration is vital.
- Our first responders must be able to communicate with federal,
state and local authorities in order to serve and protect New
Mexicans.
I will introduce legislation that will define the
word terrorist. The Bush Administration has used and continues
to use the word terrorist politically to benefit their cause.
It is our duty as Americans to question the process. We as Americans
must not allow the use of “The Patriot Act” to destroy
our civil liberties. I will fight to remove “The Patriot
Act” from the books.
Even if Osama bin Landen were to be captured or
killed, the threat of the Al Queda network would continue. We
will never forget Al Queda’s attack on America. We must
continue to focus our efforts to destroy Al Queda and its surrogates.
The Bush Administration’s inadequate effort to execute the
war on terrorism has put Americans in extreme danger. Our foreign
policy should consist of the use of all Diplomatic Efforts; Economic
Sanctions and as a last resort…Military Intervention. I
will continue to support a strong military.
The Bush Administration failed to build a powerful
coalition of allies that could help him with his invasion of Iraq.
Why did Bush fail to gain support from allies? Because of his
failure to tell the truth. As a former CIA Case Officer and Paramilitary
Case Officer I followed CIA operational procedures in the use
of the Intelligence Cycle:
- Planning and Direction
- Collection
- Processing
- Analysis and Dissemination
It appears to me that the Bush Administration by-passed
the intelligence cycle to justify his invasion of Iraq. Had I
been in Congress at the time; I never would have voted for Bush's
invasion of Iraq! I am proud of my Military, CIA and DEA career.
When I am elected I will question the process. I ask for your
support so that we may find our way out of the Quagmire of War
and prolonged occupation of Iraq. I am not a politician but I
am a Bold Leader who has the guts to ask the tough questions.
Paid for by the Committee to Elect
Eli Chavez, Nancy A. Lesicka, Treasurer.
